Welcome to Owl Class!
For most of the week we are taught by Mr Grimes, aided on a Thursday and Friday by Mrs Scott.
On a Tuesday afternoon we have Mrs Brotherton for Science and on a Friday afternoon we have our music lessons (pocket trumpet this year) assisted by Mrs Matthewson.
We will blog and tweet about our learning in class as we believe that by sharing our learning with a different audience it will make our work better.
Our class page is full of useful information and photographs about our learning and class life.
This year we will be using lots of technology to connect our learning to the world around us. We will make films, use the internet, design websites and lots of other exciting things to make our learning real.
We will use an online journal called Seesaw to share our learning with the wider world (Please see the Seesaw Blog link on the left hand side of this page).
We will also have our residential trip to Ford Castle later in the year.
We believe that "WORDS UNLOCK THE DOORS TO A WORLD OF UNDERSTANDING". This means that we spend a lot of time looking at where words come from (Origin), what they mean (Definition), other words that mean the same (Synonyms) and words that mean the opposite (Antonyms). We understand that by using a wide and varied vocabulary we can make our writing more interesting. We use resources from the VOCABULARY NINJA to help us with this.
In our other English work we will use units from A Tale Unfolds to inspire and direct our writing. These units normally culminate with a film which we will either invite you in to watch or share on our YouTube channel
If you have any questions about anything we do in class then please feel free to speak to Mr Grimes, either in the playground or through the school office.
